** Why Can’t I Lose Weight Men Over 40**

When it comes to asking the question “Why can’t I lose weight?”, men are usually focussed on getting rid of belly fat, chest fat, and the dreaded ‘Dad Bod’, especially in their 40’s. In order to do that, all you need is 4 key principles that I’m going to share with you right here. The first is not something you’d expect, but it is by far the most important thing when it comes to battling the bulge and losing weight in your 40’s.

*Key #1 – Make Sleep A Priority (1:11)

If you’re not getting at least 7 hours of sleep each night, it’s very possible that any weight you’re losing is coming from muscle tissue instead of fat. It has been proven that people who struggle to sleep or sleep poorly have a harder time losing weight than those that do sleep well. Sleep is also responsible for resetting your hormone balance, which controls hunger, stress, and appetite.

*Key #2 – Nutrition & Diet (2:20)

Those that ask “Why can’t I lose weight for men?” often head straight for a diet plan as their first port of call, and for a very good reason. Besides sleep, this principle is one of the most effective things for helping you lose weight. ‘Weight loss starts in the kitchen’ and is often responsible for about 70-80% of your results. Tightening up on your diet plan and understanding where you can improve will be so important.

*Key #3 – Do High Intensity (HIIT) Cardio (5:07)

The next of our 4 key principles to answer “Why can’t I lose weight at 40?”, is to transition yourself away from long duration steady-state cardio and use high-intensity interval training. This can be done by simply doing 1-minute at a high intensity and then 1-minute at a lower intensity. The high intensity could be a fast run, a high level, or an incline, depending on what exercise you’re doing.

*Key #4 – Do Strength Training (6:11)
Next up is adding strength training into your ‘why can’t I lose weight after 40’ workout plan. A lot of guys think that strength training is for the ‘gym bro’s’ that want to pack on muscle and get huge… BUT, it’s very important for weight loss too, as increased muscle tissue means a faster metabolism and more fat burning even at times of rest.
