I can’t workout because I’m pregnant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve heard that more in the past 12 weeks than I can count. I continue to workout BECAUSE I’m pregnant. Because it’s the best thing I can do for myself and the baby. Because I want to keep in shape while still growing a human. I’ve had so many people praise me for what I’m doing and while the support means the world to me it got me thinking. Why should I stop working out now just because I’m pregnant? Yes I feel nauseous in the morning and yes I’m tired but in the 20 minutes I’m working out I forget about all of that. It’s 20 minutes spent knowing I did something good for myself and maybe burning ¼ of those damn carbs I keep putting into my mouth.
The first question my doctor asked me was if I worked out. When I explained my routine to her she was ecstatic. She told me to keep doing exactly what I am doing, but listen to my body when I’m feeling fatigue. Listen, this is my first so I’m not sure what it’s going to be like once baby gets here and trying to find time to get a workout in. But what I do know right now is that I have time and it’s good for me. Nothing has changed expect that I’m getting bigger. It still requires motivation and often a personal pep talk, but I’ll continue to show up for myself and this next phase of life for as long as I can.
